Filmmakers Hark1karan and Alex Donaldson present their latest short documentary, A Portrait of Central Hill. This is the third collaboration between the duo, and it once again dives deep into the stories that often go unheard.
We previously had the pleasure of hosting a sold-out screening of Zimmers of Southall 1 & 2 here at Metroland Studios back in February, and we are thrilled to present them once again with the new addition of A Portrait of Central Hill.
The Films
A Portrait of Central Hill offers a poignant and intimate glimpse into the lives of residents of the Central Hill Estate, a community that has been engaged in the #SaveCentralHill campaign for over a decade. Facing the looming threats of demolition and eviction, the residents share their experiences, highlighting the pride, resilience, and unwavering spirit that have sustained their fight.
As part of the event Zimmers of Southall 1 & 2 will also be screened. Zimmers of Southall is a short documentary series, directed by Hark1Karan and produced by Alex Donaldson, that celebrates the Indian car community that thrives throughout the West London borough of Southall and their love of classic BMWs.
After the screening, PiNS a South London artist, will host a Q&A.
Book Signing
There will be a book signing of the Zimmers of Southall book before and after the screenings. Captured between 2019 and 2024, Zimmers of Southall is a documentary photo book delving into the rich layers of Panjabi culture in West London and a new way of capturing modern Britain. Zimmers of Southall is Hark1karan’s 3rd self-published book after PIND and KISAAN. The book offers a deeply personal exploration of the culture and evolving landscape of Southall, West London, and life in modern Britain.
