A new installation and events series by multidisciplinary artist, creative producer and long-term Metroland resident, Linett Kamala.
Bass Tone Regeneration: Building Community explores themes of community, place-making, regeneration and homelessness.
The exhibition aims to uncover Kilburn’s rich music history. Giving a voice to people impacted by ongoing regeneration, and exploring what it means to rebuild community amongst continuous change.
Featuring sound system installation, Bass Tone Regeneration, as well as short films and photographs, documenting Linett Kamala’s work in South Kilburn. Also including a collection of research, ephemera, and printed matter from other Linett Kamala projects. This includes Brent Biennial 2022 commission Disya Dancehall – a reimagined Jamaican takeaway inspired by Super Cat’s dancehall classic, Vineyard Style.
The exhibition also includes a recording booth where visitors can record their own memories and reflections of South Kilburn. These recordings will be collected for use in a future project.
