Announcing studio residents CVAN London.
We are excited to announce the newest resident of Metroland Studios: the London Chapter of Contemporary Visual Arts Network (CVAN London).
Both CVAN London and Metroland exist to connect artists and others in the industry to share knowledge and create community. CVAN London finding a home at Metroland
Studios offers both organisations a chance to deepen and broaden this work.
“We are delighted to host CVAN London at Metroland Studios. Over the last 4 years our work has focused on supporting artists, young people and visual arts collaborations to grow and develop in our Kilburn studios. The mission of the building is to create a community of artists to support and nurture one another. CVAN brings a London-wide lens to the building and we are excited to see partnerships develop with our work across London.”
– Lois Stonock, Founder Director of Metroland Cultures
About CVAN
CVAN London is a free-to-access, research-led, sector support and advocacy network
for artists, arts professionals, art galleries, arts organisations, studios and art schools
across London. CVAN London was established in 2020 and has become an important
advocacy and lobbying body for the visual arts sector in London.
Since March 2020 membership of the network has grown across the boroughs. Originally based at UCL, CVAN London works with multidisciplinary research to develop ways to sustainably care for people, places and environment, and evidence the value of the arts. Additional activity is made possible through working in partnership, fundraising, and support from the national CVAN network.
CVAN London will have a base at Metroland Studios, as well as programming a series of workshops and events open to their London wide network and Metroland’s community.
“We are thrilled to be resident at Metroland Studios and extremely grateful to Lois Stonock and the team for generously hosting us. It is a wonderful opportunity for London’s visual arts network to join a creative community of artists, writers, cultural workers and organisations.
Until now, our network events have been virtual but with access to the studios’ social space and gallery, we are excited to be able to come together in person, co-produce opportunities and deliver artist development programmes for creatives in Brent and across the city. We look forward to working in partnership and supporting the next generation of artists, arts workers and arts organisations to co-create a fair and equitable visual arts sector.”
– Jo Townshend, Chair Director, London Contemporary Visual Arts Network.
