Blueprint

THE YOUNG PEOPLE WHO SHAPED THE BRENT 2020 PROGRAMME

Equal parts leadership programme, pressure-group and think tank, the Blueprint Collective was at the heart of Brent’s year as London Borough of Culture. An inspiring group of creative young people, they were passionate about where they lived and where they wanted to go.

Originally a small group of ambassadors supporting Brent’s bid, the group grew throughout 2018 and 2019, re-naming themselves the “Blueprint Collective”. By the end of 2020, there were over 150 members. The Collective continues post-2020 as “Blueprint”, from a base at Metroland Studio in Kilburn, NW6. The Collective played a part in many aspects of Brent 2020: members hosted interviews for Brent Locked In, took part in workshops to develop the brand identity for Brent 2020, and were on the decision-making panel that oversaw the allocation of grants for the 2020 Culture Fund. They were supported through a series of workshops led by creatives (initially in person, then online), and had the chance to take up creative placement opportunities within the Borough of Culture team.

We are the 79,000 young people of the Borough of Cultures!
We are the pulse that beats through Brent
We want the unheard voices to be heard, we are their voice
We want to elevate young people, we are their opportunities
We want to inspire young people, we are their role models
You are welcome to our homes and to our streets
You will be immersed in our cultures past, present and future
We represent, design and say how it is
